Who We Are
The Industry was inspired by a personal struggle to manage single-motherhood, and working to provide + thrive, whilst giving power to creative passions and dreams from childhood.
A balance that until now, was not thought possible.
Where it Began
Hi fellow passionate artists! My name is Corinne, owner of The Industry. I am so excited that you are also looking for a way to make it all possible! Balance is difficult. Your dreams may seem far away, but I assure you that you can make them a reality! Here is a little bit of back story, and why I chose to open The Industry.
While in cosmetology school, like many, I was offered many different assistantships and booth rental opportunities, however, none of them aligned with how my life was set up, as a single parent. I had no family in the area to help me watch the kids while I worked, and asking friends was not consistent. So daycare was my option, and a wopping $900-$1400 per month…so not an option.
There was absolutely no way that I could raise my kids on an assistant’s wage or pay an extremely high booth rent, while juggling daycare cost, my apartment rent, and the basics, like food. I could not justify paying for a full week at a salon and be locked in for a month-to-month or year, if my childcare was inconsistent or or cost just as much as what I would be paying in booth-rent. What if I only had 3 clients that week and they didn’t mind washing their hair in my kitchen sink? What if they didn’t mind if my kids were running around? Seems like the more lucrative option.
So that’s what I did- for years.
That is what so many talented people in our industry do, because it is the only thing that makes sense.
Until now.
The Industry, would have made it possible for me to grow and build my brand/business at an exponential rate, even given my situation at the time.
With the basis being affordable hourly/daily booth rental.
It takes the tension out of the owner/stylist relationship by using the app to pre-pay/book/reserve your space.
The commuter-style vibe of the stylists/artists/etc always changing, keeps it a positive, and consistently new environment.
